Associate Professor of Operations Management and Information Systems at Católica Porto School of Business and Economics, Universidade Católica Portuguesa. His research focuses on sustainable operations management and digital transformation, with a particular interest in the circular economy and the integration of products and services.
He holds a PhD from Cranfield University, UK, and master’s and undergraduate degrees in Engineering from the University of Coimbra.
His work has been published in international academic journals, including Computers in Industry, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management and Journal of Business Research. He is also the co-author of a book and several book chapters, and co-inventor of two national patents.
With more than three decades of experience in higher education, he has taught on undergraduate, master’s and executive education programmes, including at the business schools of Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto and Lisbon. His teaching combines applied research with company-based projects. He began his professional career as an operations engineer in the paper industry.
Throughout his career, he has held a range of academic and university leadership positions. He served as Associate Dean of Católica Porto School of Business and Economics and of the Faculty of Engineering. He also held positions as Deputy President of the Viseu Regional Centre, University Campus Coordinator and Head of Department, and directed undergraduate and master’s programmes.
