The Director of the Centre for Leadership Development – CLeaD, Arménio Rego, a Professor and researcher at the Centre for Research in Management and Economics (CEGE) at Católica Porto School of Business and Economics (Católica Porto SBE), has once again been included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists List, compiled by Stanford University in collaboration with the academic publisher Elsevier. This recognition highlights the international impact of his research in Management.
Arménio Rego's continued presence on the list follows recognition in previous years, reflecting the relevance of his research in areas such as leadership, organisational behaviour and people management.
This recognition comes as the first classes of Católica Porto SBE's PhD in Management begin in the 2026/2027 academic year. The new programme, which has strong links to the research conducted at CEGE, marks another step towards strengthening advanced education and scientific knowledge production in Management.
In addition to Arménio Rego, the ranking recognises researchers from Universidade Católica Portuguesa across a range of scientific disciplines. In total, 18 researchers from the University are included in the 2025 list, representing the fields of Agriculture, Biology, Food Science, Nursing, Biomedical Engineering, Management, Medicine, Microbiology, Nutrition and Virology. This represents an increase of approximately 30% compared with the previous year.
The World’s Top 2% Scientists List includes more than 249,000 scientists worldwide, across 22 scientific fields and over 174 subfields. Compiled by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier, the ranking is based on bibliometric indicators that assess the impact of scientific publications and researchers' contributions to advancing knowledge in their respective fields.
